Hi, we're new to this forum, and at the beginning of the whole process. we were thinking of perth. My Hubbie is a Regional project Manager for a structured cabling co. Running teams of subbies putting in computer cables and networks for big companys and new buildings etc. If we go by project manager on the list we only get 50 points. ( need to get 60)

We could go by his qualifications to fit the network himself but i don't know what it's called in oz? Any ideas?

Also is there a lot of this work available, presumably with all the building work going on, networks are going in too, just wondered if any one knew of these jobs being advertised any where so we could try for sponsership.

Any help greatly appreciated so excited at the whole prospect but worried of building kids hopes up.

Hello Leanne and Mark, welcome to the site.

Hope this helps, i;m in the same boat, ive been in the stuctured cabling industry for over 12 years ( comms 4 15 ). I had a few years in project management but resorted back to instalation due to redundancy.

We first looked into immagration back in August 2005. Started the long and winding road of who, what, where and when and are now waiting 4 our visa.hope to be in oz soon.

There will not be many visa options open to you so it would be a big advantage to get yourselfs a consultant (loads on the net)They sort all the relevant paperwork and cross the ts and dot the i,s. It costs but well worth it.I had my skills assesed as a communication linesperson this covers all works involved in the industry If you go this root you need to go back as far as you can providing proof of all your skills ie certificates from courses on install and testing H&S etc etc etc. The visa option was a SIR (Skilled independant regional) and oz will give you a list of areas your skills are required. We were given these options and decided on Adelaide.

Work is out their its just finding the employment. on the sir visa the state government sponsor you but dont find u work. The visa itself is only valid 4 3 years within which you have to prove your worth live in the area provided and work full time 4 12 months you can then apply for perminent residency so on and so on. Hope your not bored yet dont be reading is going to play a big part of your application lol

Hope this helps
